Hogyan szalasztottunk el egy fényes extragalaktikus szupernóvát?

Bár az elmúlt közel négy évben elsősorban az Androméda-ködben vadásztunk extragalaktikus nóvákra, az utóbbi időben egyre több viszonylag közeli galaxisról is készítettünk képeket azzal a céllal, hátha sikerült elcsípni vagy egy szupernóvát vagy - a nagyon közeli galaxisokban - egy fényes klasszikus nóvát. Múlt hét szerdán viszont valami oknál fogva, sikerült elszalasztanunk a Pegazus csillagképben található NGC 7331 galaxisban feltűnt szupernóvát - pedig ott volt a szemünk előtt :O Az alábbiakban ennek az okait próbálom boncolgatni, majd levonni a tanulságokat. Az akkor még csak kb. 17-18 magnitúdós SN 2026aaiv Tordai Tamás szept. 2-án hajnalban készített összegképén. A tél végi - tavaszi időszakban sajnos nem látszik tőlünk az Androméda-köd, ilyenkor - jobb híján -  a tavaszi égen látható fényes, közeli galaxisokat szoktuk fotózni Tordai Tamás barátommal. Yesterday morning (Sept 10/11 night) I found a possible nova on my unfiltered M31 images made with the 43 cm CDK at the Alnitak Remote Observatory. While checking the relevant official website for recent discoveries, it turned out that the XOSS team had reported this guest star approximately 3.5 hours before me.  So it goes. Vend91: very bright nova in M31

I've just found a quite bright (~18.2 mag) possible nova on my 4x90s images made with the 43cm CDK at Alnitak Remote Observatory, Nerpio, Spain on September 04.1512UT, using a Luminance filter. Coordinates of Vend91 : 00 42 50.3813 +41 18 58.764 (J2000.0) The discovery of Vend91 has been reported to the TOCP website as PNV J00425038+4118587 and to the TNS server as AT  2026aaom . Update on 11th September: Vend91 is still rising. By this morning it had brightened to approximately 15.2-15,4 magnitudes. I've just discovered an approximately 19.3C mag possible nova on on my M31 images made tonight (Aug. 18.1119UT) with the 0.43 m Dall-Kirkham telescope at Alnitak Remote Observatory, Sierra del Segura, Spain, using Luminance filter. Vend88: bright possible nova in M31

I've just found a bright (approximately 16.8C mag) possible nova on 15x120s M31 photos of Tamás Tordai made tonight (aug. 14.0920UT). It was already visible near 18.0C on his first 25x120s M31 series made by him ~3.5 hours earlier too. Updated coordinates of Vend88 : 00 43 17.44 +41 26 52.8 (J2000.0) . Vend87: another possible nova in M31

I've just found a possible nova of approximately 19.4 mag on my M31 images obtained this morning with the 0.43 m CDK telescope at Alnitak Remote Observatory using Luminance filter.  Coordinates of Vend87 : 00 43 06.19 +41 22 08.2 (J2000.0). The discovery of Vend87 has already been reported to the TOCP website as PNV J00430615+4122082 and to the TNS-server as AT 2026wjw .   The discovery image. Vend86: possible nova in the southern regions of M31

I've just found a possible nova of approximately 18.7 mag (unfiltered) on my M31 images obtained this morning with the 0.43 m CDK telescope at Alnitak Remote Observatory. This guest star was also visible on images (5 × 120 s) obtained yesterday morning with the 0.51 m telescope at UDRO. Updated coordinates of Vend86 : 00 41 24.1189 +40 49 01.89  (J2000.0). The discovery of Vend86 has already been reported to the TOCP website as PNV J00412404+4049028.  and to the TNS-server as AT 2026wed . Prediscovery image made with the 0.51m telescope at UDRO.

Vend85: quite bright possible nova in M31

I've just found a fairly bright (~17.7 mag) possible nova on my recent M31 images made with the 0.43 CDK of Alnitak Remote Observatory on July 20.1813UT. Nothing was visible at this position on my 4×120 s images obtained with the 0.61-m CDK telescope at Sierra Remote Observatory, Auberry, California (iTelescope.net), on 2026 July 16.4384 UT, with a limiting magnitude of approximately 19.2C. The discovery of Vend85  has been reported to TOCP website as PNV J00425536+4117270  and to the TNS server as  AT 2026vdo . Updated preliminary co-ordinates of Vend85:  00 42 55.97 +41 17 32.44  (J2000.0) The discovery image with reference subtracted.   The discovery image. Vend84: independent discovery of a possible nova in M31

I've just found a quite bright (~18.0CV) possible nova on my M31 images taken this morning (2026 May 22.1380 UT) with the 0.43 m CDK at Alnitak Remote Observatory.. It seems this is  AT 2026nhw reported my the XOSS team around 9 hours ahead of me.  Checking my yesterday images, it was already visible on yesterday morning (2026 May  21.1465 UT) too , but then it was significantly fainter (~18.8CV), probably this is the reason I missed the discovery earlier. Thus I just have another independent discovery and prediscovery observations. "Independent" detection of the possible nova AT 2026afr in M31

I found a possible nova on the M31 images made by Tamás Tordai in the evening 2026. Jan. 20.  It seems this is AT 2026afr, discovered by the XOSS team almost one and a half days ahead uf us.   

Vend83: eruption of the recurent nova M31N 1926-07c?

I've just found a possible nova on the 25x120s unfiltered images of Tamás Tordai made this evening (2026. Jan. 18.61785UT). It seems this is the due eruption of recurent nova M31N 1926-07c.

Vend82: independent discovery of AT 2026xf

I've just found  a bright possible nova on my 4×90 s images of M31 taken on 2026 Jan 13.8280 UT with the 0.43 m CDK at Alnitak Remote Observatory. It was already faintly visible in the green channel of my 6×120 s colour images obtained with the 0.28 m RASA telescope at UDRO on 2026 Jan 12.3102 UT. This appears to be an independent detection of the transient AT 2026xf . Unfortunately, the XOSS team discovered it approximately 8 hours before my observations with the 0.43 m CDK . Vend81: independent discovery of the possible nova M31N 2026-01a

I've just found a 18.4CV mag bright possible nova on my images taken with the 0.43m CDK reflector of the Alnitak Remote Observatory on 2026. Jan. 08.82UT. The guest star has significantly brightened during the night is, and it was clearly visible at around 17.8CV mag on my 3x120s. images at UDRO on 2026. Jan. 9.1928UT. It seems this is an independent discovery of AT 2026gs .  Our ATEL on the independent discovery of M31N 2026-01a . Vend79: independent discovery of a possible nova in M31

I've just found a quite bright (16.5-17.0 mag) possible nova in my recent M31 (2025. dec. 15.1196UT) photos. It seems this is a independent discovery of  AT 2025agwf . The ISSP group found this quest star around 9 hours ahead of me. My images show that AT 2025agwf has significantly brightened since yesterday evening. Nothing was visible on my images taken on 2025. dec. 13. morning hours. Co-ordinates of AT 2025agwf : 00:43:17.640 +41:14:20.10 (J2000.0)

Vend78: a possible young nova in M31

I've just found a ~19.4 C mag possible nova on my 4×90s co-added images of M31 taken tonight (2025 Dec 11.7759 UT) with a Luminance filter using the 0.43 m Dall-Kirkham telescope at the Alnitak Remote Observatory, Sierra del Segura, Spain. Follow-up images obtained this morning (2025 Dec 12.2138 UT) with a 0.61 m f/6.5 CDK reflector at the Sierra Remote Observatory, Auberry, California, USA (iTelescope.net) show that it is still rising, at around 18.3 CV mag. It has been reported to the TOCP website as PNV J00421476+4117284 and to the TNS server as AT 2025agmm . Vend77: fényes nóva az Androméda-ködben

Az UDRO 51 cm-es távcsövével hétfőn hajnalban (2025 dec. 01.0668UT) az M31-ről készített képeken találtam egy 18,2 magnitúdó fényességű nóvajelöltet a galaxis magjától kb. 82 ívmásodpercnyire északra. A vendégcsillag gyorsan fényesedett, a hét közepén 16,5-17,0 magnitúdó környékén tetőzött a fényessége, azóta lassan halványodik. Péntek éjjel Claudio Balcon olasz amatőrcsillagász színképet is készített róla, amely megerősítette, hogy tényleg egy extragalaktikus nóvát fedeztem fel.  A csillag koordinátái: 00 42 42.87 +41 17 33.1 (J2000.0) A Vend77 dec. 6-án hajnalban, az UDRO nagy látómezejű 51 centis távcsővel készített "levont" képen November utolsó napjaiban / december elején ismét tűzijáték volt az Androméda-ködben. Az M31N 1963-09c visszatérő nóva idei robbanását nov. 25-én csípte a kínai XOSS csapat, engem 9 órával megelőzve . Az M31N 2008-12a idei robbanását Itagaki Koicsi kapta el nov. 30-án. Másnap pedig én jártam szerencsével a Vend77 felfedezésénél. Hétfő reggel...

Vend77: a possible new nova in M31

I've discovered a possible nova of ~18.2 mag on my 8×120s M31 images taken this morning (2025 Dec 01.0668 UT) with a Luminance filter using a 0.51 m telescope at the Utah Desert Remote Observatory, Great Basin Desert, Beryl Junction, Utah, USA (iTelescope.net network).  It has been reported to the TOCP website as PNV J00424276+4117303  and to the TNS server as AT 2025afrg .  Co-ordinates of Vend77 : 00 42 42.87 +41 17 33.1 (J2000.0)  The astrometry was provided by Tamás Elek, Nyíregyháza-Oros, Hungary using the original discovery images and follow-up images made on 2025 Dec 2.1900UT. Update: During the following days this guest star significantly brightened to ~16.5–17.0 mag.   Vend77 was clearly visible on my images made with te 0.43CDK at Alnitak Remote Observatory this evening. Vend76: az M31N 1963-09c visszatérő nóva idénre várt robbanása

 Az Alnitak Remote Observatory spanyolországi 43 centis távcsövével az Androméda-köd déli részéről kedd este készített képeimen találtam egy 17,98CV fényességű nóvajelöltet, amely szinte biztosan az M31N 1963-09c visszatérő nóva idénre várt robbanása. Sajnos a kínai XOSS-csapat 9 órával megelőzött, így ez most csak független felfedezés lett. A vendégcsillag pozíciójában egyébként az XOSS felfedezése előtt 10 órával a kalitorniai 60 centis távcsővel készített képeimen még nem látszott semmi. Ezúttal nem nekem kedvezett a szerencse, de azért így is egy ATEL közlemény társszerzője lettem. Amikor az ARTA programhoz beadtam a pályázatot távcsőidőre, az elsődleges cél az volt, hogy az Alnitak Remote Observatory spanyolországi 43 centis távcsövével rendszeresen lefotózom az M31-et, hátha sikerült elkapni robbanás közben az Androméda-köd visszatérő nóvái közül azokat, amelyek kitörése idénre volt várható. Vend76: Independent discovery of the expected eruption of M31N 1963-09c

I have just found a possible nova in my 4×90s images of M31 taken on 2025 November 25.9109 UT. It appears to be the expected eruption of the recurrent nova M31N 1963-09c. Unfortunately, the XOSS team detected the eruption 9 hours earlier , so this counts only as an independent discovery. Nothing was visible on my 4x120s images of M31 taken on  2025 November 25.1366 UT with limit magnitudes of 19.3. The independent discovery was made with the Alnitak Remote Observatories robotic telescope network, ARTA program.

Vend75: a rapid nova or dwarf nova in M31

Itagaki-san discovered a 18.1 magnitudes nova candidate ( TCP J00404022+4122433 ) in M31 on 21. november 21. Two days ago, on. 22th November morning I also detected it near 16th magnitudes on my 7x120s color images made with the 0.28m RASA telescope at UDRO.  This transient reached peak brighness near 15.84V at Nov. 22.4177UT accodring to K. Yoshimoto. However this transient was hardly visible on my recent 8x120s images made with the 0.28m RASA at UDRO this morning (it was around 17.5 magnitudes). The rapid fading and the blue color on my images suggest that this is either a 'precursor' outburst of a dwarf nova or a rapid classical nova. Follow-up photometry and spectroscopy is urgently needed!
