Vend77: a possible new nova in M31

I've discovered a possible nova of ~18.2 mag on my 8×120s M31 images taken this morning (2025 Dec 01.0668 UT) with a Luminance filter using a 0.51 m telescope at the Utah Desert Remote Observatory, Great Basin Desert, Beryl Junction, Utah, USA (iTelescope.net network). 

It has been reported to the TOCP website as PNV J00424276+4117303 and to the TNS server as AT 2025afrg

Co-ordinates of Vend77: 00 42 42.87 +41 17 33.1 (J2000.0) 

The astrometry was provided by Tamás Elek, Nyíregyháza-Oros, Hungary using the original discovery images and follow-up images made on 2025 Dec 2.1900UT.

Update: During the following days this guest star significantly brightened to ~16.5–17.0 mag.

 

Vend77 was clearly visible on my images made with te 0.43CDK at Alnitak Remote Observatory this evening.


This was the discovery image made this morning. 8x120s images with a Luminance filter on a 0.51m telescope Utah Desert Remote Observatory at Great Basin Desert, Beryl Junction, Utah, USA (iTelescope,net network).

Vend77 has significantly brightened two days since the discovery. On Dec 3 morning it as already around 16.5-17.0 magnitudes.
